Resumption of Domestic and International Flights

Kenya has instituted several measures aimed at slowly reopening up some sectors of the economy especially the travel and tourism sectors. Domestic air travel resumed on 15th July 2020 under Ministry of Health and Transport guidelines. International flights resumed on 1st August 2020.

Accross the border, Rwanda reopened its international borders and tourism activities, including primate trekking, in line with enhanced Covid-19 prevention measures.

Tourism Safety & Hygiene Protocols

Kenya’s tourism sector has developed tourism and hospitality protocols on health and safety to mitigate the effects of the disruptions caused by the corona virus disease. Actors in the tourism sector have therefore, through adoption of these protocols, taken responsibility of ensuring that destination Kenya is safe for tourists and those working in the sector.

These protocols will be implemented by Tours and Travel Operators, tourist transportation services, adventure sports tourism, events and entertainment, meetings and convention/exhibition centers, Amusement parks and tourism attractions sites. You can read more about these protocols here.

HTT Safari Safety Protocols

Do you want to go on safari but at the same time worried about your health and safety?
At HTT, we have created special Small Private Safaris. These are based on using private vehicles, charter flights and small intimate safari lodges/camps.

The lodges to be used will be those with no more than 8 rooms/luxury tents. The rooms/luxury tents at the properties are set apart offering safety and privacy. No buffet meals to be served.

We have put in place systems that will ensure our safari vehicles will be used by no more than 4 persons, thus keeping the recommended social and physical distance.

All proper sanitization to be in place. These will include:-
a). All vehicles will be cleaned and sanitized before and after each game-drive and transfer.
b). Safari vehicles are also equipped with hand sanitizers.
c). Driver guides will wear face masks or face shields during game-drives and transfers.

In addition, we will minimize the time guests spend at the reception by ensuring we have all relevant information before their arrival for smooth check in. Check outs will be eased by ensuring all billing is done in advance to reduce the checkout process.

Kenya Receives Safe Travel Stamp

Kenya has received the Safe Travel Stamp by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) placing the country among the top destinations in Africa to receive the Safe Travel Stamp. This specially designed stamp allows travellers to recognize governments and businesses around the world that have adopted the global health and hygiene standardized protocols so they can experience "Safe Travels".

The country has earned its accreditation due to its consistent effort towards adopting the global health and hygiene standards dubbed ‘Safe Travels’ in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a timely recognition since Kenya is preparing to reopen the tourism and hospitality industry after months of closure.
