Meru National Park

Home of “Born Free” conservationists George and Joy Adamson.

Famous for its setting of Joy Adamson's book "Born Free" and home of Elsa the lioness, Meru National Park is beautiful and wild. Meru is a savannah National Park. It is beautiful and wild. It is part of a complex of protected areas along the Tana River.

Wildlife to see here include elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, black rhinos, zebras, oryx, gazelles and antelopes. The area is crossed by numerous permanent streams and rivers which abound with crocodiles and hippos.

If you are a bird lover, you'll fall in love with this place as over 300 species of birds have been recorded here. Small but intriguing, Meru has a feeling of a richer wildernesses and will provide you with a rewarding African bush experience.
