Day 1: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park
Meet and greet by our safari rep will be at 0630hrs at your hotel. This will be followed by departure driving west to Kibale Forest National Park. You will have a stop in Fort Portal for lunch before you proceed to Kibale. Embark on the Bigodi Swamp Walk this afternoon. This is an initiative of the local people geared towards conservation in the area.
On this walk you have chance to look at different bird & butterfly species. Primates like black and white colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabeys may be seen during the walk. There are also a variety of interesting plant species also which will be explained to you by the guide. The guides will discuss the local flora and fauna.
Return to your chosen accommodation in time for dinner and overnight. (Transit Time: 5hrs.)
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start your day with breakfast at your lodge. Enjoy a transfer at 0745hrs to Kanyanchu Tourist Center for briefing. Kibale’s most popular activity is the Kanyanchu Primate Walk. Thirteen species can be sought, and a good variety of diurnal monkeys invariably encountered, but the stars of this trail are the chimpanzees. Kanyanchu’s chimps have been tracked since 1993 and the chances of locating them are excellent.
Morning guided walks start at 8am and last an average of three hours, depending on various factors. After lunch proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive provides you with a chance to see beautiful, cool Crater Lakes and possibly the Great Rwenzori Mountains. Check into your chosen accommodation before an evening game-drive where you expect to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck and many more.
Dinner and overnight will be at your chosen accommodation. (Transit Time: 3hrs.)
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake-up and prepare to be fascinated on a sunrise game-drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, de fassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Later after lunch, have an exciting boat cruise on the spectacular Kazinga Channel.
This offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is colorful and abundant as there is a wide array of colorful beautiful birds soaring near to the water surface. Among the common species to look out for are the Martial Eagles, African spoonbills, Cormorants, African Skimmers, Pelicans and Papyrus Gonolek, in addition to the occasional hard to pin down Shoebill Stork.
You will be privileged to see schools of hippos and Nile-crocodiles sunbathing and opening wide their saw-like jaws. Return to your chosen accommodation facility for overnight.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks
After early morning breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive takes you through Ishasha section famous for its tree climbing lions.
This section of the Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephant, lion, hippo, leopard, buffalo and Uganda kob. Birds present are all typical of riverine and savannah habitats. After lunch proceed to Bwindi where upon arrival, check in at your preferred accommodation. (Transit Time: 5hrs.)
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking
After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for an experience of a lifetime. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists.
The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity.
Day 6: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park
Early morning transfer to Lake Mburo (estimated travel time is 5 hours). On arrival you will check in for lunch before an afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. This is the most popular activity in Lake Mburo National Park. It is a journey on the lake that provides great opportunities to observe mighty hippo and croc populations. Water bird species are often too numerous for even the keenest birder to identify all.
These great wildlife experiences coupled with the stunning scenery and panoramic landscape views will impress upon you true African beauty. You will later take a sundown game-drive to end your day in an adventurous style before you retire into your chosen accommodation.
Day 7: Lake Mburo - Entebbe
Wake up to the rhythm of nature. After coffee attend a briefing by a ranger-guide at 0530hrs. Embark on a two hours safari walk to a salt-lick area called Rwonyo where many animals are attracted by the salty rocks. You may encounter hyenas returning to their dens and hippos retreating to the lake.
Return to the lodge for breakfast, rest and some relaxation through to lunchtime. Check-out of your lodge after lunch as you enjoy a game drive en-route. Drive back to Kampala with drop off at your hotel/ residence. (Transit Time: 4hrs.)
